Abstract

This study assesses indoor temperature control performance by implementing outdoor reset control and pulse width modulation (PWM) in radiant floor heating systems within highly insulated residential buildings. Two control methods were employed: outdoor reset control and fixed hot water temperature regulation for supply water temperature, while valve on/ofl control utilized two approaches: bang-bang control (a two-position on/off control) and PWM, which adjusts valve opening time based on the temperature differential between the set temperature and indoor temperature. Analysis of overshooting revealed that PWM excels over bang-bang control in indoor temperature regulation. Furthermore, PWM’s control characteristics led to reduced heat output. Application of outdoor reset control showed potential for reducing overshooting.
