Abstract
The objective of this paper is to propose the feasibility of implementing the Temperature and Humidity Independent Control (THIC) system in multi-family residences in Korea during summer. The THIC system, as proposed in this study, employs radiant ceiling cooling panels to manage sensible loads and solid desiccant for latent loads, controlling them independently. This system was experimentally compared with the conventional Package Air-Conditioner (PAC) focusing on occupant comfort. In a lab setting with a sensible heat ratio of 0.5, the tests showed that while the PAC maintained temperatures below the indoor set point temperature (26 ), the THIC system appropriately controlled temperature and ℃ humidity, thus satisfying occupant comfort.
